Ceramic nativity scene, 'Cave of Stars'

Representing the ceramic traditions of the Ayacuho region of Peru, Dionisio Rojas tastefully crafts this Nativity scene. The Holy Family appears attired in typical Peruvian clothing, peacefully enrapt in the divine splendor of the occasion. Two little angels guard the entrance to the cave, its blue arch adorned with white spirals and perforated with stars. The piece is shaped by hand from clay and fired to perfection before applying alluring enamel paints. A candle may be placed inside the work, allowing harmonious light to exit through its various openings.
